Kepnock is one of Bundaberg’s established eastern suburbs, with mature street trees, neat brick-and-tile homes and backyards that have settled into their gardens. Those mature surrounds and close neighbours give good shielding, so many Kepnock blocks assess at the lower end of the Region C scale, often around N3 under AS 4055. That keeps the engineering, and usually the price, a touch leaner than an exposed coastal site, while still being properly certified for cyclonic wind. We confirm the classification on site rather than assuming.
Matching the patio to an older home.
On an established home the patio needs to look like it belongs, not bolted on. We match the roof pitch, the gutter line and the Colorbond colour to the existing roof, and we often recommend a gable patio to echo the lines of a tiled hip roof and lift the alfresco ceiling. Where the budget points to something simpler, a flat roof patio gives clean modern shade. Either way the aim is a structure that reads as part of the house from the street.
